Dustin Atkinson Excels on the Domestic Circuit

Nth Steyne shredder Dustin Atkinson has had a busy month the powerful Natural-footer putting in a couple of solid results on the domestic front.

At the result Dripping Wet Pro at Freshwater, he outguns some of the events he names and he powered his way to an equal 5th placing.

He really was in rhythm with the punchy right hand peaks on offer posting a series of big scores along the way. He only missed a spot in the final by a point and he overall performance didn’t go UN noticed with a couple of surf brands keen to sponsor him.

Next up he took on the Region titles at Dee Why and   in a stacked field he made it through to the quarter final stage. His heat score of 14.5 would have won most heats but not in this heat with all four guys going nuts in the 3 feet waves. Doesn’t help having a thousand people in the area but hey another solid result.

There is still a chance that Dustin will be able to fight on and get a crack at the State Titles and that will also be held in Sydney somewhere.

Other than Beau I think the records will show that at a junior level Dustin is the only NSB surfer to have made it though the long process into the Australian titles and if he isn’t going to have a crack at the WQS tour , it would be great to see him win a Australian Open’s Title.
